well, honestly. freak fortress is a little hard to describe. yknow how back in the day gmod and sfm videos were needlessly gory and nonsensical? that’s… 70% of freak fortress. But it’s good! It’s good i swear

freak fortress’ main charm (to me) is all the characters people make! if you wanna get started on getting into FF or just learning about freaks in general, i recommend checking out the Freakshow Universe wiki! (the regular Freakshow wiki is fine too, i just prefer the FSU one!)

freaks are, very typically, bloodthirsty and murderous, but there are friendly and neutral freaks too! some “starter” freaks i think are a good starting point are Painis, Intelligent Heavy, Brutal, Weaselcake and Soldine! every freak’s wiki page link to videos featuring/starring them ^_^

there’s also a Freak Fortress gamemode in actual TF2, based on VS. Saxton Hale. and a few freaks appear in the Slender Fortress gamemode too :)

i do also have to say, FF really is a relic of its time, but a lot of content and Freaks themselves are. Outdated, to put mildly. These were characters and videos made in the 2010’s so there are some bad eggs and there’s humor that can be considered very unsavory nowadays, but I really do mean it’s a small percentile in an otherwise very, very charming (and entertaining) look into the sfm/gmod community of the time!

list of expectations for the upcoming dev conference / livestream bc i can't sleep:

- anniversary news is almost guaranteed. batter will likely be getting one of the s-tiers, but it's not confirmed if it'll be in the shop or the essence. this may also be when undead gets his new skin, but i'm much less confident on that. four skins will be revealed: the s- and a-tiers from the essence, and the s-tier that'll be in the shop. the corresponding event will also be teased / discussed.

- once / backdrift and ivory tower skin news. definitely one once skin and at least one ivory tower skin (possibly two). this could be when we get the hunter ivory tower skin that was announced forever ago.

- no new character news. sorry, but they already have two characters waiting to be released (as i believe faro lady will already be available in-game by the date the livestream is planned for), and adding a third while giving nothing on the two already revealed would just overhype fans. if they do, for some reason, reveal a new character, it will likely be the acrobat identity switch they've been teasing lately.

- speaking of new characters, i highly doubt goatman's essence will be revealed; it's too early in the season to reveal the third essence. again, any essence news will likely be tied to the anniversary. i'd be happy to be proven wrong, though.

- we'll probably be getting news on collabs. my safest bet is news on the collaboration with the arthur conan doyle estate, which will reveal the skins (and other in-game content) we'll be getting; novelist is almost definitely getting a skin. it feels a bit early to reveal news on the return of the persona 5 collab, but it's possible. other new collabs could be revealed too.

- no logic path, coa, deduction star, nymph awards, or rank accessory news. it's too early in the season for lp and accessory news, and FAR too early in the year for ds, nymph, and coa news. if you want an estimation on those last three: october at the earliest for ds news, november for nymph, and december for coa. i can't give an estimate on lp or accessories as those vary depending on when the current season ends.

- new maps, gamemodes, story updates, etc. will at least be touched on. my best guess is a possible release date for mercenary's diaries and an update on the murder mystery gamemode that was revealed during coa7.

- a new truth & inference offline package is possible but i wouldn't hold my breath considering that we got wu chang's relatively recently.

- possible news on the idv-es skins, either an in-game showcase or a reveal of their hunter. i'm hoping they clear up the confusion around the designs because a lot of us are still a little unsure about them, especially naib's.

- news on the "mysterious event" announced on the june calendar, if it isn't covered by any of the above points.

and that's about it!! this is mostly based on my own experience waking up far too early to catch these streams (haven't missed a single one since i learned about 'em lmao) and what i've come to expect from them. i may be completely off the mark here but it's what i know of these streams. i may end up liveblogging these announcements; i'll make a sideblog for it and if you want to hear about the news right after it's revealed, feel free to follow me there!! Phantom arknights is the perfect ryona victim because he has gotten brought back into his fucked up French theatre murder cult TWICE and one entire bit about him is that he was constantly vying for the attention and affection of the troupemaster while growing up to the point he stayed in the murder cult for this reason, until he just left and THEN 10 years later he goes back to it. and not even after another 10 years he's back in it now and taking the name of the troupemaster [Tragodia] because the attachment to the mf was that strong and he's maybe possessed by the troupemaster too. and still he is the most mentally vulnerable man in all of arknights. His cat feeds off of his pain and suffering like it's a full course meal and the person he's closest to wants to bash his fucking head in with a brick because he tried so bad to be like him that he hates him.

Oh and even though his entire get up is based on The Phantom of The Opera. He is Christine.

Currently the stories he's featured in, Because AK is a gacha, are Phantom & Crimson Solitaire [Part of a rougelike gamemode called Integrated Strategies, if the links aren't fucked, These are the endings of this edition of IS.) and Act or Die, Act or Die is CN only as of now but using machine tl for the time being is alright to just understand the story. There is a manhua that relates to his childhood years in the murder cult, however, much like Act or Die. As of now it is CN only.

Characters available: Sojourn, Cass, Venture, Ashe, (Baby DVA), JQ, Illari, Bap, Lucio and Moira

Melee only for innocents (when necessary), gun for sheriff (will reveal that you’re detective with shooting), murderer (melee kills/skills)

Find out who’s the murderer before it’s only the two of you left.

Innocents after awhile are able to find scraps to build a gun.

Maps: Blizzard World (last point), Kings Row (mid point), Revamped “MM” version of Paris & Nepal and a revamped death match map to a mm map.

Announcer is replaced with Sombra’s Free Event “News Flash” skin.

Word cannot describe how much I want this gamemode.

I love murder mystery themed games, or just murder mystery stuff in general. I honestly think this would work well gameplay wise as well, as to programming would be simple.

I could also see there being in game interactions between the characters. I could also see this being an opportunity to do something that no other game mode has actually done, have the character interact or react to the announcer.

Also Sombra having a new broadcaster voice is something I need to see.

i was laying there, hangin out and listening to some music while i drifted to sleep on popcorn palace. Guess they had an update, i smacked headfirst into a new pooltable that was just there out of the blue.

I really love vrc, its a game i really cherish after playing so much with my good friend on there. We cuddled for the first time there, she kissed me there, she can be so open and beautiful and sweet there.

And i also get to meet new people! Feel lonely? go find a gamemode and bully the everliving shit out of some random person on murder four or prisonbreak or even just join some cozy world and chat with people.

As an introvert i usually dont like starting new conversation with people but i just remember that people? they just wanna find some happiness. And i act goofy and do silly things and that usually gets people to warm up and start talking with me. Especially since i talk to myself, i use it as a way to communicate "hey yo, im open to chat, look im chattin with myself rn!"

Like i met a group of guys on there. After we got used to each other one of them set up the holo christmas tree (i think this was exoplanet journey i dont remember the exact name. Very beautiful world though.) and we just started decorating it. I was trying to jump and get the ornaments up real high and that was so much fun to do. We ended up playing spin the bottle then beer pong, but they were super cool dudes and they all ended up friending me after i left.

All ya gotta do is breathe and not think too much about it, and youll find some really amazing people to talk with. Im still pretty bad at making friends on vrc in a more conversational way, i usually use like games and things like that to warm people up. And, i know ill have to talk with them again to connect better, which im still not great at.

i literally have a small handful of people who are close enough to me that i feel comfortable talking to them, and they are all in real life! So.

Anyways, yes vrc!!! Very nice game, ive met very nice people and had to deal with a few trolls at times. I try to join vr later at night. Im on the west coast so when i join its late for everyone in the us, which means less trolls and more teens / adults. Which quite frankly, i wanna know more of but still got that fear of not being "mature enough" to talk with everyone lol

GAME RULES:

I will be doing my best to follow these rules (if my favourite cat dies in game i will bend the rules maybe);

Gamemode- Expanded mode

Same sex cats can have kits!

Leaders will automatically choose a deputy (unless i think the cats not fittinh for the job

Experienced graduation

Cats will not retire due to permanent conditions (due to leaders law)

Warriors and elders can be mediators

Mass extinction will be on if the clan gets too big

PERSONAL GAMEPLAY RULES:

All patrols to due with other clan interactions will be antagonised

ANY cat that joins the clan will be put on a solo patrol to prove they are worthy of being in the clan

If a cat has kits with someone outside of their clan they will be punished

Murders even if not stated i will pin on a certain cat for that DRAMA

yeah 😭 psychic's also insanely bonkers in said mode BECAUSE of the whole "one singular murderer" thing. it's still a Lot in the newer gamemodes but it's a bit more reasonable considering there's a) the witch, a role-blocking evil role, and b) the dark psychic, which Can be in the same game as the psychic as long as there's no assassin

i think overall the newer one definitely feels more mafia-esque set-up wise (even if the evil team's communication is. uh. Unreliable.

... i still don't get why they haven't implemented something for the evil team to communicate with besides notes; i dont think i've seen an actual mafia game where even the scum team doesn't know their teammates)

y'know call it a hot take and feel free to disagree on this, but i think flicker (the roblox game) drastically improved with the new (at the time) roles update

like i know yall miss the old flicker and im glad that classic mode's an option but i personally think it works SO much better with more evil team members and power roles in general
